We are two middle sisters from a family of seven siblings who began sewing our own clothes out of necessity in grade school, when that wasn’t a very “cool” thing to admit to! Now it is a very chic thing to have a one-of-a-kind Posey Patch original. Make heads turn and get one of yours today! The Wall Street Journal recently rated five of the top online do-it-yourself purse sites (“The New Bag Designer: You” by Catalog Critic Elizabeth Blackwell, May 12, W9C). The article is a handy guide, as the design-your-own bag sites are somewhat tough to find. Be warned, there are no returns on these purses and a majority of the styles lean quite preppy. More to the point, perhaps, one is not really doing a lot of designing, but picking out a handbag style from the selection of available models and then selecting the fabric (in most cases). Some designers also let you select the handles/straps, lining, and other optional features (e.g. pockets, zippers) you want. And, presto, some three weeks later, your new best friend arrives in the mail.

Ever been to Chicago and seen some sharp looking purses that you hadn't seen before? Chances are it's a "Lill" -- a 1154 Lill Studio bag that the Beautiful fabric, charming touches, each bag matches the lady to a glove.
These are the hottest thing in Chicago, and now Kansas City and Boston where the company has opened up stores. Lots of people get their Lills online - a fun process whether one buys or just makes -- or through their popular purse parties. And, kindly enough, Lill has the Grace clutch, the sales of which go to support young survivors of breast cancer.Lots of choices here. Both the purse shape and material are varied and original. Be sure to check the dimensions listed and make sure you have a correct idea of how big or small the purse will be. This felted bag was made from a pattern on MagKnits that I modified. I knitted the bag from Cascade 220 yarn and felted it in the coin-operated washing machine in my apartment building. The yarn cost $6 and four trips through the washer were $4 -- can't beat a $10 purse! I have vague plans to line it and possibly add a fastener, but it looks good and works just fine as-is.

HELP! I have broken my sewing machine repeatedly - got the needle and bobbin stuck while sewing overly thick seams. I took my machine to repair place and was told that it wasn't me, it was the machine - a Pfaff hobby something. But I think it is me.
