Sweetie Purses
Empty candy wrappers, potato chip bags and cookie packages that once littered roads and filled Mexican dumps are now making fashion statements in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.Indian men and women from the central state of Mexico have converted the food labels into colorful women's clutches, shoulder bags and hip belts that are selling on websites and in upscale U.S. boutiques and department stores for up to $240 apiece.

Each product is individually crafted by hand by an artisan who transforms Trash into Treasure. No two pieces will ever be exactly the same as each piece is truly unique. It takes a full day to make a small purse, and over a week to produce a large bag, each part being interwoven and folded by hand.
Sweetiepurse, founded by Elaine and Stanley Cohen, also works with a Charity called Grupedsac, whose purpose is to promote sustainable development among small farmers and indigenous people living in extreme poverty in Mexico.
Capri Sun
Here is one of the most unique purses to cross our line of vision: The Capri Sun purse. Seriously. Not for sale, but worth a look. Have your own creative bag for us to see? Load 'em up.But wait, there's more!
But that's not the end of it .... you wouldn't believe the recycled goods that can be used for stunning bag creations.
Have a look at Great Green Goods for amazing creations made of
- number plates
- recycled newspapers
- recycled telephone wire
- discarded PET bottles
- post-consumer coffee-filters
- recycled juice boxes
- recycled feed and rice bags
- recycled phone books
Old bike inner tubes make exciting purses. Seriously, Alchemy Goods of Seattle makes messenger and haversack bags out of inner tubes. Not like you can really tell because the end product is too amazing to believe. They also make a few totes out of old ad banners. Need we add that every bag is one of a kind?
