Up-and-Coming Designers
There are amazing purses to be had by designers so new, so hot, so now that one finds these purses and handbags at invitation-only gatherings or tony, urban boutiques. Will they be around next season? Will they be the next Kate Spade? Perhaps, perhaps.
If you know what you like and you know you don't want to be like everybody else, strike out on your own and find an up-and-coming handbag designer.
And by no means, don't keep secrets!

SabineEuro designer Sabine Frank's (SaFran) handbag lines runs the gamet from streetwise unisex satchels to satin and velvet wonders so delicate it's hard not to coddle them. Take a look at Sabine's latest collection here! This round leather gem offers a peak into Sabine's upcoming collection which she is working on right now in her hometown of Stuttgart, Germany!
Handmade and well made are the designs of Portland's finest Keyka Lou. Distinctive fabrics. Pretty, ladylike proportions on clutches, wallets, business card holders and even cuffs.

Details: Matching set of accessories featuring a one medium envelope style clutch and business card wallet made from a beautiful Japanese cotton. This fabric is a very high quality textured cotton with pink, red, cream and orange dahlias against a vibrant red background. Both lined in coordinating spring green cotton broadcloth.
Clutch: 7.75" wide x just over 4" high. Closes with a 1/2" silver magnetic snap.
Business card wallet: 4.5" wide x just over 2.5" high, closes with Velcro. Holds 25+ cards at a time.

Special features: Made in San Francisco. Roomy, relaxed bags with top-grade hardware features. It looks as though many purses need four weeks lead time as they are hand made to order. Beautiful! Now on sale at a select few boutiques in Newport Beach, Walnut Creek, Las Vegas; at trunk shows and online. Prices range from $365 to $550.

Designer Tammi Carlisle makes handbags that are incredibly unique with special features such as python-patterned straps and very darling and daring purse sets. You might have seen these beauties on the shows (Will and Grace, Friends) on the shoulders of such celebs such as Sharon Stone and Jessica Simpson.

Trend-setter or trend follower? For those leaning toward the front of the line, you have to see Hayden-Harnett out of Brooklyn. Talk about a mash-up that works. Kimono fabric meets patent croco with little wild extra morsels of hardware: 
Jalda style gets a listing on the Up and Coming page since she is relatively new to handbag making - 2002 - but her designs hit the fashion bone and are carried throughout the U.S. Jalda was born in the Netherlands but lives in Los Angeles. She's a former business consultant who craved a career with creativity. She made a handbag for her brother's bride for the wedding and before she knew it, she was making bags for friends and others. Made in the U.S. and carried by fine boutiques and tony department stores, Jalda bags have a loyal following among the stars and fashion-forward gals everywhere. Talk about beautiful fabrics! The Harringtons start by designing their own canvas fabric for totes and coin purses, along with oven mits, dog beds, pillows, ties, placemats. The DSQ team aren't strictly purse designers, but the little chamers they do make are a distinctive addition in a bag or over-the-shoulder. In 2 short years mclifforddesigns has grown exponentially and the line has been featured in People Style Watch, Health Magazine, Star, and the show,"What Not to Wear." Martha Clifford, the designer, is based out of North Carolina and manufactures her purses in NYC. The bags range from $175-500 crafted from fine Italian leather, functional zipper pockets, compartments, and a range of textures and color! They are affordable, chic, and something every girl should have in her closet.
